Digital marketing: what to expect next year

Australia’s digital marketing sector is set to see an annual boost of more than $20 billion, according to a new report.

The report, from the digital advertising group Digital Advertising Alliance, says the industry will grow by more than 2 per cent next year and by around $20.2 billion in 2018-19.

“The sector is a growing opportunity for digital marketers,” chief executive, John Kelleher, said.

“We’re seeing the sector growing exponentially, which is great for advertisers and the industry as a whole.”

The report also highlighted some of the new challenges facing the industry.

Digital marketing is a rapidly growing field with the growth rate at $3.3 billion a year.

“There are going to be challenges around the supply chain, and there’s going to have to be some challenges around marketing,” Mr Kellehar said.

The digital ad industry is growing rapidly.

In 2018-2019, it was expected to reach $4.5 billion, and by 2020-21 it would grow to $6.5bn.

“Digital advertising is in the midst of a boom,” he said.
